As reported, a homeowner used his shotgun to defend himself and his young daughter from an intruder:
Police say that a man was home, with his infant daughter, at about 9:45 PM when a burglar broke in through the back sliding door of his house on the 7500 block of Barn Owl Drive in Fountain, CO. The homeowner reportedly grabbed his shotgun and went to investigate the noise, when he found a intruder in the living room. The homeowner fired one shot, which missed the intruder but sent him fleeing, leaving the man and his daughter unharmed, according to news reports. Police are said to have found the man’s wallet and keys in the back yard, where the intruder is believed to have dropped them when fleeing.
Home invasions are a deadly threat to the occupants of a home. The criminals who commit such crimes often murder, shoot, stab, torture, kidnap, and permanently injure their victims. The result is that the lives of law abiding, innocent people can be ended or ruined in an instant, all because of a criminal’s desire to make some quick money at the expense of their victims. Fortunately, this homeowner was prepared to defend himself and his young child. The burglar, who was lucky to survive, may think twice before invading another person’s home.
