The Courant reports that Hartford, CT is facing a wave of violent crime, similar to that which Chicago has recently experienced. But unlike Chicago, Hartford is taking steps that will actually reduce crime, rather than just calling for more ineffective gun control laws and giving the police machine guns:
Instead, Hartford, CT Mayor Eddie Perez is hiring an additional 30 police officers, adding additional foot, bike, and horseback patrols, forming a city wide task force, and stepping up enforcement of truancy laws. Unlike passing more gun control laws, which the criminals will ignore and will only serve to disarm the law abiding citizens, Hartford is taking real steps to reduce violence. Now if only politicians in Chicago and its surrounding suburbs would take notice…
