Despite Chicago’s longstanding handgun ban, Dominice Hallom has been shot 3 separate times this year. Upon being shot for what is the third time, Dominice Hallom is reported to have remarked “Oh my God. I’m shot again . . . I’m tired of this.”
In June, Dominice Hallom was shot in the buttocks. in the months of January and April, he was shot in the left and right calves, respectively. Hallmon denies being in a gang, however according to a Chicago Tribune magazine article, some people in the neighborhood implied that the two earlier shootings were gang related.
Keep in mind that this is in Chicago, which has had a handgun ban for more then 20 years, yet not a day goes by without at least one handgun shooting. In more violent weekends, it is not uncommon to have 30 shootings. Chicago’s answer to this violence is to ignore the failure of their gun control laws, push the state legislature to take away gun rights of all Illinois residents, and to give the Chicago police machine guns. No matter how one feels about guns personally, it is pretty hard to argue that Chicago’s gun control is stopping criminals, or doing anything other than disarming law abiding citizens.
