The bike by shootings reportedly happened about 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of North Avenue and Karlov Avenue, in the Humbolt Park neighborhood. A male cyclist rode by, opening fire on two pedestrians, before peddling away.
This is not the first bike-by shooting in Chicago, and it probably won’t be the last (especially given the current gas prices). Nor is it the first example of Chicago’s handgun ban failing to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, and only serving to disarm the law abiding people who weren’t going to commit a crime in the first place, leaving them defenseless. Time after time, criminals chose to ignore the gun control laws, just as they ignore the laws against murder, which is why Chicago has at least one shooting every day, and sometimes dozens in a single weekend.
