As reported, St. Louis, MO Alderman Charles Quincy Troupe’s ward has one of the highest homicide rates in the city. Recognizing that the police can’t be everywhere at once, Alderman Troupe has advised his constituents to get a gun and learn how to use it responsibly. So far, about 40 people have expressed interest in a gun safety course that Alderman Troupe is helping to promote, and 30 of them are women.
I commend Alderman Troupe’s actions here. Instead of pushing for pointless, feel-good anti gun measures, this politician is working with his constituents to promote public safety and self defense from criminals. Rather than being shot by robbers, armed citizens can defend themselves. Instead of being murdered in their own homes, armed citizens can save their own lives. Rather than being raped and beaten to death, armed citizens can stop rapists.
As I told a reader of this website named Anders, who mentioned this topic to me, I wish that Chicago had aldermen like Troupe. Sadly, Chicago has politicians like Richard Mell and Mayor Daley instead.
