As reported, six people where shot at a house party in Chicago, following a verbal altercation. The shooting occurred on Chicago’s South side at 1:30am yesterday. Fortunately, all 6 of the victims are expected to live (although their lives will almost certainly be permanently effected by their injuries).
- An 18-year-old male was shot in the leg.
- An 18-year-old was shot in the abdomen.
- A 17-year-old was shot in the arm and hand.
- A 20-year-old was shot in the arm.
- A 22-year-old man was shot in the arm.
- A 40-year-old woman was shot in the buttock.
These shootings show once again that the handgun ban just doesn’t work. The kind of person who is willing to pull out a gun and open fire on six people due to a verbal disagreement is not the kind of person who will worry about a misdemeanor handgun possession charge. That is why, time and time again, we see criminals ignore the handgun ban, plus the laws against shooting people, with tragic results. Just as bad, the handgun ban keeps guns out of the hands of law abiding people, leaving them unable to defend themselves against the gun-ban-ignoring criminals.
Sadly, Chicago-area politicians continue to cling to the myth that gun control laws work, and that law abiding citizens shouldn’t be allowed to have the means of defending themselves.
The value of an investment in a hedge fund is calculated as a share of the fund's net asset value, meaning that increases and decreases in the value of the fund's assets (and fund expenses) are directly reflected in the amount an investor can later withdraw.
