As I mentioned previously, not all Democrats are anti gun, just as not all Republicans are pro gun. Almost on que, a trio of Republicans from the state of Connecticut, Governor Jodi Rell (R), State Senate Minority Leader John McKinney (R-28), and State House Minority Leader Larry Cafero (R-142), have proposed a package of anti gun rights laws:
- House Bill 6371 would double most hunting and fishing licenses and fees and eliminate the Conservation Fund, a fund spent on only wildlife conservation expenditures.
- Senate Bill 837, simply stated, would double pistols license fees.
- Senate Bill 839 would transfer operations of the currently independent Board of Firearm Permit Examiners to the Department of Public Safety. This action, if approved, would take away the autonomy of the Board and would mean that if an applicant were denied his license he would have to appeal to the very body, the Department of Public Safety, which rejected the application.
Remember, when evaluating a political candidate on the issue of gun rights, it is not enough to just look at whether they have (D) or (R) after their name.
Connecticut residents are encouraged to contact their elected officials and oppose these anti gun rights laws.
This is so true.
In NJ, the *One Gun a Month* Bill is on the back burner, thankfully, by the Dem Majority Leader.
If this Bill dies, I’m sending him flowers.
