As reported, an Oshtemo Township man was at his home last Monday afternoon when two criminals broke in. The armed home owner fired two shots, which apparently missed the criminals, but sent them running for their car. Police were able to arrest one of the suspects, an 18 year old man, and are searching for the other suspect. The home owner was not injured.
Rather than repeating my usual points about how guns allow a single person to fend off multiple attackers, how unarmed citizens can suffer terribly at the hands of home invaders, or how calling the police usually won’t help during a home invasion, I would like to take this opportunity to make another point:
Anti gun politicians and anti gun groups cling to the long since discredited study which asserts that a person is 43 times more likely to be killed by their own gun than to defend themselves. This study had many flaws, once of which was that it only counted deaths, while most self defense gun uses do not result in any deaths. This self defense gun use, this self defense gun use, this self defense gun use, this self defense gun use, this self defense gun use, this self defense gun use, this self defense gun use, this self defense gun use, this self defense gun use, this self defense gun use, and the majority of other self defense gun uses don’t result in anyone dying. Gun ownership saves lives, while gun control is just another law for a criminal to ignore.
