As reported, 20 year old Patrick Finney walked into a West Akron, Ohio pizza shop, brandishing a shotgun. Finney demanded money while threatening the lives of those present. Luckily, an employee was armed, and was able to shoot Finney in self defense. Finney ran from the store, but collapsed down the stree and died. None of the victims were harmed.
I have a particular dislike of armed robbers, due to their willingness to injure and kill innocent people, just to take the hard-earned money of others. While it is unfortunate that the life of even a violent criminal was lost, I’m glad to see that no employees or patros of the pizza shop were harmed, as happens all too frequently during armed robberies. The heroic actions of the armed employee have also likely saved future victims of Patrick Finney, as armed robbers tend to go on committing such crimes until they are shot in self defense or finally caught and sent to prison. And this is yet another reason why I support gun ownership.
