As mentioned last week, robbers in Oak Park were ignoring the handgun ban. This has continued for yet another week, with a robber pistol whipping a man as he was robbed, as the Wednesday Journal reported.
How much longer until Chicago and Oak Park residents realize that their handgun bans only disarm the law abiding citizens, and leave them easier targets for criminals? The criminals will continue to ignore the handgun bans, just as they have done for more than two decades. The law abiding citizens will continue to abide by the handgun ban, and be robbed by criminals who are looking for easy targets, just as they have done for the last 20+ years.
It honestly amazes me how the left can even begin to argue for gun control…it absolutely makes no sense. Rather than take guns out of the hands of those who use them properly, why don't they start by:
1. Enforcing the current laws concerning guns
2. Give the criminals incentives not to use guns, i.e., mandatory life sentences when using a gun in the commission of a crime, if you have a record and even get caught with a gun in your possession, mandatory 20 years, etc etc.
Let's do these things and see what the results are before anyone even considers more laws!!! Common sense…oh wait, we are talking about Congress, personal feelings, political expediency and blindly following your party's wishes always trumps what the people want and what the constititution guarantees…my bad, sorry!
Jack
People just value social conformity more than their lives. Well, those people who don't know what "unalienable" and "infringe" mean, anyway.
Instead of relying on unconstitutional statutes to "protect" you from bad guys with guns, just arm yourself and protect your own life, without restricting the lives of others.
If a man cannot be trusted with a gun, he shouldn't be loose on the streets. He certainly shouldn't be trusted to respect the sovereignty of his fellow man.
Instead of destroying traditional American values, those who support ANY form of gun control should be exiled, to a place where the right to keep and bear arms isn't protected by an amendment, or by millions of Americans who are willing to kill to preserve it.
It's time for a paradigm shift.
