As reported, an Omaha, Nebraska business owner used his gun to defend himself against a burglar who broke in at 4 AM.
Police say that the owner of Preferred Auto Sales heard an unusual noise in his store, and investigated. As he was walking through his store, a burglar is said to have emerged out from one of the aisles with his hand raised in a threatening manner. Fearing for his safety, and believing that the burglar was armed, the store owner reported fired in self defense. Even after being hit by a bullet, the burglar is said to have attacked the store owner, at which point a struggle ensued. The burglar is said to have fled, hiding near the store in an attempt to avoid the police. A suspect, 23 year old Jesus Franco, was reportedly found dead from a gunshot wound. After reviewing the security footage, police stated that had the burglary suspect not repeatedly hid from the police as they search for him, he might have received life-saving medical care and survived.
Once again, a law abiding citizen has used a firearm to defend themselves. Had this business owner not been armed, he could have ended up injured or killed in his own store. Luckily, he was armed, and as a result didn’t suffer at the hands of a burglar.
