A convenience store clerk in Chattanooga, Tennessee reportedly used his handgun to save himself from an armed robbery.
Police say that a pair of teenage robbers entered the J&C Quick Stop just before 3:00 PM and pointed a gun at the store clerk, while demanding money. After the robbers took some cash, the clerk was able to grab and fire his self defense gun, striking the armed robber in the wrist, and causing both robbers to flee, police say. Two suspects were apprehended a short time later, the wounded suspect was treated at a local hospital, and both suspects were then charged with aggravated robbery, according to law enforcement. Police are also said to have recovered the robbers’ gun and the stolen cash.
Once again, gun ownership has allowed a law abiding person who was going about their peaceful business to defend themselves from unprovoked and violent attack. Had this clerk not been armed, he could have been harmed by the robbers for not having enough money to steal, or perhaps just because the robbers felt like harming someone that day. Make no mistake about it – robbery is a violent crime against a person’s body and life, not just a taking of property. As such, robbery victims are legally and morally entitled to defend themselves with deadly force.
I’m glad this guy was able to defend himself
