As reported, a Modesto, California liquor store robber was reportedly shot in self defense by his would-be victim.
Police say that two men entered the liquor store, which is located on the 1600 block of Tully Road, and attempted to commit an armed robbery at approximately 10:40pm. A struggle with two of the clerks ensued, and one of the clerks was able to grab and fire his self defense gun, striking at least one of the robbers and causing both robbers to flee, according to news reports. Police reportedly arrived and found one wounded suspect, who later died at a nearby hospital, and are seeking the other suspect.
In an ideal world, there would be no crime. In a slightly less ideal world, the police would be able to intervene during every crime, and stop the criminal before an innocent citizen is harmed. Sadly, we live in neither of those hypothetical world. Instead, we live in a world where crime is all too common, and unarmed citizens can suffer greatly when a crime occurs. The countless cases like this are why I support gun rights and reject the naive idea that we would all be better off without guns.
