As I’ve previously noted, I primarily write about self defense cases in the United States. This is because I’m an American, who focuses first and foremost on American gun and self defense rights. However, as the case below from the Bahamas shows, armed self defense saves crime victims all around the world:
Police say that a two armed men, who were wanted in connection with a string of burglaries and robberies, began breaking into a home at Assembly Estates around 2:00pm on Saturday. A resident and the intruders saw each other, at which point one of the intruders fired two shots from his handgun, which missed the resident, according to news reports. The resident reportedly grabbed his lawfully owned shotgun and fired in self defense, striking at least one of the home invaders and sending both fleeing. One suspect collapsed nearby and was taken to a hospital in serious condition, while the other suspect escaped and is being sought, according to police.
Once again, guns are a valuable self defense tool, whether the crime victim is in the United States another country. Unarmed individuals can suffer a terrible fate when attacked by a violent criminal, even if they fully cooperate with that criminal’s demands. The same is true for those who try to run away from the criminal.
On the other hand, fighting back against robbers can be quite effective as a means of reducing the risk of injury to the victim. This armed barber shot an armed criminal who threatened him and his son, saving their lives. This armed pet shop clerk shot an armed robber who threatened a fellow employee’s life, as well as his own life, preventing them both from being stabbed. This armed pizza delivery man defended himself against 3 armed robbers, and walked away unharmed. This armed citizen stopped a bank robber, while this armed Israeli citizen stopped a terrorist. I could go on with more examples, but the point should be clear – armed self defense works.
