As reported, a San Angelo, Texas jewelry store robber was shot in self defense by a store employee.
Police say that the robber entered Cano’s Jewelry, on the 2700 block of Sherwood Way, at approximately 1 PM, while armed with a handgun. An employee is said to have grabbed his self defense gun and fired, striking the robber and ending the attack. The robber, who has not yet been identified, reportedly died at the scene. The employee and the store owner, who were the only other individuals in the store, were reportedly unharmed, although the employee was said to be “a little shaken, and understandably so” by the ordeal.
Once again, guns are a valuable self defense tool. Unarmed individuals can suffer a terrible fate when a criminal robs them, even if they fully cooperate with the criminal’s demands. The same is true for those who try to run from the robber. Thankfully, this employee was armed for self defense, enabling him to survive unharmed. It also appears that San Angelo owes this employee a debt of gratitude, as there is one fewer violent armed robber on the streets.
