As reported, a Thonotosassa, Florida homeowner used his gun to shoot one burglar and scare off another:
Police say that the homeowner was asleep in his house, located on the 12000 block of Hazen Avenue, when he was awakened by an unexpected noise. The homeowner reportedly grabbed his self defense gun and went to investigate, at which point he found and was attacked by one of the two intruders who had entered his home. The homeowner fired in self defense, injuring one of the invaders and sending the other fleeing, according to police. Upon their arrival, police reportedly apprehended one suspect, who was treated at a local hospital for gunshot wound injuries.
Home invasion robberies are a deadly threat to homeowners and anyone else who happens to be inside the home. Residents may be tortured, seriously harmed, and even killed by criminals, even they fully cooperate with the criminals’ demands.
Rather than being left at the (non-existent) mercy of criminals, armed citizens are in the best position possible to defend themselves. Here, this homeowner used his gun to stop a pair of violent home invaders. Similarly, this homeowner shot a burglar in self defense, while this man held a burglar at gunpoint until the police arrived. As another example, this elderly woman used her gun to hold a burglar at gunpoint, while this armed motorist shot a carjacker in self defense. As the statistics and real life examples show, armed self defense simply works.
