As reported, a Mobile, Alabama pizza delivery man used his gun to fend off a shotgun-wielding robber:
Police say that the pizza delivery man was delivering to an address on Elmira Street, when a robber in his late teens approached and threatened him with a shotgun. Fearing for his safety, the pizza delivery man reportedly dropped the pizzas and grabbed his self defense gun, the sight of which caused the robber to flee, according to news reports. The pizza delivery man was unharmed, and police are seeking the suspect.
This sort of attack on pizza delivery drivers is sadly common. Criminals see such drivers, who they know are carrying cash, as easy targets. All too often, the pizza delivery driver is killed by a criminal who values the few dollars that they are carrying more than human life. Armed self defense is a pizza driver’s best chance of avoiding that fate, as we have seen in the past.
Luckily, this pizza delivery man works for a company that allows its drivers to carry a gun for self defense. (The unfortunate fact is that some companies – including Pizza Hut – have fired employees for lawfully defending themselves!)
