As reported, an armed store clerk shot one armed robber, and sent his accomplice fleeing:
Police say that two armed and masked men entered the Lakeshore Market in Excelsior, MN around 10:45 PM, intent on committing a robbery. Fearing for his safety, the clerk reportedly grabbed and fired his own gun, striking one robber and causing the pair to flee. A suspect, identified as 19 year old Omario Tavari Henry, was found hiding in the bushes behind the store and suffering from a gunshot wound, according to police. Henry was reportedly treated for his injury at a local hospital, and police are seeking the second suspect. No injuries to the clerk, customers, bystanders, or the African Grey Congo Parrot who is the store’s mascot, were reported.
In an ideal world, there would be no crime. In a slightly less ideal world, the police would be able to intervene during every crime, and stop the criminal before an innocent citizen is harmed. Sadly, we live in neither of those hypothetical worlds. Instead, we live in a world where crime is all too common, and unarmed citizens can suffer greatly when a crime occurs. The countless cases like this are why I support gun rights and reject the naive idea that we would all be better off without guns.
