As reported, a retired homeowner used his gun to defend himself against a man broke into his backyard shed then attacked him items from that shed:
Police say that the man was asleep in his Memphis, TN home at 5 AM when a neighbor called to say that a criminal was breaking into his backyard shed – for the third time in recent memory. The homeowner reportedly grabbed his gun, and went to investigate, at which point he saw an intruder lurking inside the shed. The homeowner yelled for the intruder to come out, but instead of complying the man reportedly began throwing items such as a saw, a gas can, and a bottles at the homeowner. Fearing for his safety from this attack, and potential risk that the intruder would have a more deadly weapon, the homeowner fired in self defense, striking the intruder in the leg and ending the attack, according to news reports. A suspect was reportedly found by police in a neighbor’s yard, suffering from a gunshot wounded, and no injuries to the homeowner were reported, according to police.
Once again, we have a situation where a criminals decided that instead of working hard to earn money, that they would take from another, endangering that person’s life and safety in the process. Luckily, this homeowner had a self defense gun, and was able to use it to put an end to this attack, saving himself from the deadly threat the attacker posed. Memphis also owes this homeowner a debt of gratitude, since his actions helped police to swiftly apprehend a suspect who would likely have otherwise remained at large.
It’s always good to read that the criminal was shot (and hopefully killed) by a property owner. Regular target practice would also reduce the incidence of non-fatal wounds, so let’s get out there and practice more.
