As I’ve previously noted, I mainly write about self defense cases in the United States. This is because I’m an American, who focuses first and foremost on American gun and self defense rights. However, as the case below from South Africa shows, armed self defense saves crime victims all around the world:
Police say that three armed robbers entered a Grassy Park, Cape Town shop right around closing time, and forced the owner and employees into a back room at gunpoint, while demanding money. The owner is said to have grabbed his own gun, at which point the suspects opened fire on the owner but missed. In response, the owner reportedly fired in self defense, fatally wounding one one of the suspects. The robbers then fled empty-handed, leaving the owner and employees unharmed.
Once again, guns are a valuable self defense tool, whether the crime victim is in the United States another country. Unarmed individuals can suffer a terrible fate when attacked by a violent criminal, even if they fully cooperate with that criminal’s demands. The same is true for those who try to run away from the criminal. On the other hand, fighting back against violent criminals is a proven and effective means for the crime victim to reduce the risk of suffering harm at the hands of those criminals.
