As reported, a convenience store customer used his handgun to stop an armed robber who was threatening the life of the store clerk:
Police say that a robber, whose face was covered with a bandana, entered the Neighbors Fuel Center on U.S. 52, in Pilot Mountain, NC, at about 8:50pm and threatened the clerk’s life with a handgun. A customer reportedly drew his self defense gun and fired at the robber, striking him once and causing him to flee. Police were later dispatched to a local hospital to determine whether a suspect may have come to the hospital to seek treatment. No injuries to the clerk, the armed citizen, nor any bystanders were reported.
The value of concealed carry should be apparent yet again. Had there not been an armed citizen in the area, this store clerk could have been killed or seriously injured by the robber, as happens all too often. Armed self defense works, as both the statistical and anecdotal evidence makes clear.
Those who oppose armed self defense should also note the great many cases like this, where a law abiding citizen uses their gun for self defense in a busy area, and not one bystander is harmed. Remember, statistics show that armed citizens are much less likely than the police to shoot the wrong person.
