As reported, a home invader was shot in self defense by his victim:
Police say that a burglar knocked on the door of a home in Prunedale, CA, and when there was no answer, forced his way inside. The homeowner is said to have ordered the intruder to leave, at which point the intruder advanced on the homeowner, causing him to fear for his safety. Acting in self defense, the homeowner reportedly shot the intruder, causing the intruder to flee. A suspect, reportedly identified as 35 year old recent parolee Craig Bowers, is said to have sought treatment for a gunshot wound at a local hospital after claiming that he was the victim of a crime, but then fled from the hospital and remains at large.
Home invading criminals are a deadly and terrible threat for every man, woman, and child in the residence. Victims of home invasion all too often suffer torture, rape, kidnapping, and murder at the hands of criminals who care more about a few dollars than human life.
The good news is that homeowner such as the one in this case can and do stop criminals every day. In doing so, they save themselves, protect other would-be victims, and help society as a whole. Simply put, armed self defense works.
