As reported, an elderly man used his shotgun to stop a gang of 5 robbers who were threatening his family:
Police say that at about 9:40AM, five robbers drove up to a home in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, and while some of the robbers stood guard outside, others entered the home. A robber, who was armed with a knife, reportedly threatened the two children, aged 8 and 10, their 30 year old father, and a maid who was in the home at the time. Hearing what was going on, the 72 year old grandfather is said to have grabbed his pump-action shotgun and fired at a robber, striking him in the torso and causing the other robbers to flee, according to news reports. The injured robber was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his wounds, and no injuries to the home’s residents were reported.
Home invasion robberies are a deadly threat to homeowners and anyone else who happens to be inside the home. Residents may be tortured, seriously harmed, and even killed by criminals – even they fully cooperate with the criminals’ demands.
Rather than being left at the (non-existent) mercy of criminals, armed citizens are in the best position possible to defend themselves. Here, this elderly homeowner used his gun to stop a gang of home invaders, saving two generations of his family in the process. Similarly, this homeowner shot a burglar in self defense, while this man held a burglar at gunpoint until the police arrived. As another example, this elderly woman used her gun to hold a burglar at gunpoint, while this armed motorist shot a carjacker in self defense. As the statistics and real life examples show, armed self defense works.
