As reported, a guest used his handgun to stop the two armed home invaders who knocked on the door and then rushed inside:
Police say that just before 11:30PM, two home invaders armed themselves with a rifle and a pistol then went to a home on the 2800 block of Polk Street in Beaufort, SC. The masked criminals reportedly knocked on the door, and when someone answered it, burst into the home. A guest in the home grabbed his own pistol and opened fire on the intruders, striking one of the men and causing both to flee, leaving the home’s occupants unharmed, according to news reports. Police arrived and found a suspect, reportedly identified as 24 year old Lucas Miles Morgan, with the help of a K-9 unit. A second suspect, reportedly identified as 25 year old Darryl James Pryor, was said to have been found in an emergency room suffering from a gunshot wound.
Home invasions are a deadly threat to the occupants of a home. The criminals who commit such crimes often murder, shoot, stab, torture, kidnap, and permanently injure their victims. The result is that the lives of law abiding, innocent people can be ended or ruined in an instant, all because of a criminal’s desire to take what doesn’t belong to them. Fortunately, this house guest was prepared to defend himself and his hosts, and as a result this home invasion ended without the victims suffering physical harm.
hopefully the law will be on his side should this get to court.
where i live, even cops can't use their firearm freely.
a couple of cops had an encounter with gang members that ended on one of the cops fatally shooting one of them. the result is a 2-3 year trial that shows no signs of concluding. heck, even BEFORE that happened, a local humorist talked about how cops must somehow know the perfect solution in the midst of a shootout.
the only thing new about that trial is that one of the gang members was deported for breaking more laws.
