A Houston, Texas man used his gun to stop a pair of home invaders who were holding his wife at gunpoint:
Police say that a man’s wife returned to their home, parking her car in their driveway, when a pair of criminals came up to her took her purse, and forced her into the home. The woman’s husband heard his wife’s screams, grabbed his own gun, and fired on the intruders, striking one of them and sending the other fleeing, according to news reports. Although the intruders are said to have fired as well, no injuries to the husband or wife were reported, and one of the suspects was taken to the hospital and required surgery due to a head wound.
Cases like that are why I am a supporter of armed self defense. Had the husband not been armed, this case could have turned out badly. Trusting one’s safety to the mercy of a home invading criminal is not a wise move.
For those who (incorrectly) suggest that a gun ban would prevent either the criminals or their victims from being armed: Firstly, gun bans don’t disarm criminals, as we have seen in the UK where gun-related crime has increased dramatically despite a draconian gun ban. Secondly, even if gun bans worked, that would just produce a situation where the strongest person prevails – and the strongest person is usually the young male attacker.
