A man in Garland, Texas used his handgun to defend himself and his girlfriend from a robber.
News reports say that a man and his girlfriend stepped out of their residence on the 3700 block of Hawaii Drive in Garland, TX to buy a camera that they had seen for sale online from a local seller, when a man approached, demanded money, and attacked. The resident is said to have then drawn and fired his gun, fatally wounding the robber and ending the attack, according to police. Police suspect that the person who arranged the sale of the camera was actually the robber, and that the “sale” was an attempt to lure the man and his money as part of a robbery plot.
As I’ve said before, robberies are a deadly threat, and guns are a valuable self defense tool. Unarmed individuals can suffer a terrible fate when a criminal robs them, even if they fully cooperate with the criminal’s demands. The same is true for those who try to run from the robber.
On the other hand, fighting back against robbers can be quite effective as a means of reducing the risk of injury to the victim. This armed barber shot an armed criminal who threatened him and his son, saving their lives. This armed pet shop clerk shot an armed robber who threatened a fellow employee’s life, as well as his own life, preventing them both from being stabbed. This armed pizza delivery man defended himself against 3 armed robbers, and walked away unharmed. This armed citizen stopped a bank robber, while this armed Israeli citizen stopped a terrorist. Armed self defense works.
